Applications are invited for the above position tenable from 1 October 2006.

The Anthropology unit at Queen’s was rated 5 in the UK 2001 Research Assessment Exercise and seeks an active researcher of demonstrable excellence who can contribute to its extensive undergraduate teaching programme in social anthropology, and to postgraduate teaching and supervision in our recently established Institute of Cognition and Culture.

Applicants must hold a primary degree, or equivalent, in anthropology or a cognate discipline and a PhD in anthropology already submitted or completed. The following are also essential: relevant teaching experience in anthropology at tertiary level; evidence of ability to produce research output in the field of cognitive anthropology that will maintain or improve the current RAE rating of the unit (5); the potential to enhance the research profile of the School in a way that complements existing areas of expertise; and evidence of a substantial period of fieldwork experience.
